Trying to snap a three-game losing streak, Loyola Marymount University’s women’s basketball team returns to action Dec. 4 and 7 at Gersten Pavilion against Cal State Northridge and Cal State San Bernardino.

Hosting the LMU Thanksgiving Classic at Gersten last week, the Lions lost to a pair of East Coast schools, dropping their season mark to 2-6. The breakdown:

Nov. 29: Georgetown 64, LMU 53: After grabbing first quarter leads of 7-0 and 17-14, the Lions fell behind at halftime, tied the game briefly at 31, and then saw the Hoyas pull away for good. Raychel Stanley (13 points, six rebounds) and Jasmine Jones (11 points, six rebounds) were the only Lions in double figures as both teams shot less than 40 percent.

Nov. 30: Yale 81, LMU 65: The Bulldogs jumped off to a 23-10 first quarter bulge and extended it to 19 heading into the fourth quarter. For LMU, Stanley scored 15, Jones grabbed 10 rebounds, and Ciera Ellington scored 13 with six assists.

Looking ahead: Like LMU, Cal State Northridge enters the Dec. 4 game with a 2-6 mark, having picked up its second victory on Nov. 30 over Indiana State, 67-59.

Cal State San Bernardino (0-5) includes senior forward Kayla Bibb, a graduate of Serra/Gardena, on its roster.

Following a break for semester finals, LMU travels to Albuquerque Dec. 18-20 for games against Ball State, New Mexico State and Providence, then opens the West Coast Conference season Dec. 29 and 30 at home against BYU and San Diego.
