J.Serra  and Santa Clara remain second in their respective divisions of the CIF-SS girls’ soccer rankings issued Jan. 13.

The Lions of San Juan Capistrano (Division 1) and the Saints of Oxnard (Division 7) weathered a ratings storm that saw only two Catholic school teams gain in the new polls from last week: Mater Dei (which plays J.Serra on Jan. 16) inched up from eighth to seventh in D-1, and Alverno climbed from sixth to fifth in D-7.

In boys’ soccer, Division 1 now features Catholic teams in slots 2-3-4, with Cathedral now second, Mater Dei third and Loyola fourth behind top-ranked San Clemente. There was minimal movement up or down in the other divisions.

In girls’ water polo, Rosary and La Salle maintained their No. 2 rankings in Divisions 3 and 7, respectively, and Mater Dei rose three slots in the combined Divisions 1&2 poll.
