With regular season play concluding Oct. 31, J.Serra continues to lead the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 boys’ water polo poll released Oct. 21.

Back on top in D-6 are the Crespi Celts, which had dropped to second last week. Alemany dipped to eighth from seventh. 

St. Francis held at second in D-5. In D-3, Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks jumped into sixth, while Servite fell from fourth to tenth. 

No changes were reported in the combined D-1&2 poll, with Loyola still third, Santa Margarita fifth and Mater Dei eighth.

Playoff seedings will be announced Nov. 2, and playoff action begins Nov. 5 with wild-card matches.

Cross Country

With rankings expanded to 16 teams for the remainder of the regular season, Catholic school teams were better represented in the Oct. 21 CIF-SS cross country divisional polls.

In boys’ cross country, St. John Bosco was still fourth in Division 3, with Damien 11th and Servite 12th. Loyola declined to eighth from seventh in D-2, and in D-4 Cathedral is slipped from third to fourth, J.Serra held at seventh, and St. Francis was 12th. 

Among girls’ teams, Mayfield remained sixth, Bishop Amat climbed into tenth and J.Serra slipped from ninth to 11th in D-4. Sacred Heart slipped to sixth from fifth and St. Paul was 14th in D-5. 

Girls’ Tennis

J.Serra and Mayfield remained tenth in Divisions 2 and 3, respectively, according to the CIF-SS girls’ tennis rankings issued Oct. 21. Teams just outside the top ten include Mater Dei and Santa Margarita (D-1) and Flintridge Sacred Heart (D-4). 

Playoff seedings will be announced Nov. 4, and playoffs begin Nov. 5.

Girls’ Golf

Post-season play in girls’ golf begins Oct. 28 with the CIF-Southern California Golf Association individual regional tournaments. The Northern Division event takes place at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai, the Southern Division competition at Los Serranos Country Club in Chino Hills.

Four divisional team championships (Northern, Southern, Eastern and Central) will be decided Nov. 4. The top three teams in each division from that event and the top 28 players who are not on one of those teams advance to the individual finals and team qualifier tournament Nov. 7 at Western Hills Golf & Country Club, Chino Hills.

The CIF-SCGA championships take place on Nov. 14 at Brookside Golf Course, Pasadena, followed by the state championships on Nov. 19 at Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pebble Beach.
