While Mater Dei’s win over St. John Bosco last Friday may have decided the Trinity League title and top seed for the playoffs, it did not change the order at the top of the weekly CIF-Southern Section Divisions 1 & 2 polls.

The Oct. 28 survey still finds the Monarchs and Braves ranked first and second, as it has much of the 2019 season. Servite and J.Serra, also tough Trinity League competitors, held their No. 5 and No. 6 spots from last week as did No. 8 Bishop Amat which clinched the Mission League crown last weekend.

The Division 3 poll saw changes, though, with Alemany dropping from third to fifth, while Paraclete remained ninth. Loyola dipped from sixth to seventh in D-4, but Damien re-entered the list at No. 10.

In D-5, St. Paul is fifth and St. Bonaventure ninth (up from tenth) in D-5, and Crespi is ninth in D-6. The unbeaten Warriors of St. Pius X-St. Matthias continue as No. 1 in D-14, with Mary Star down from sixth to seventh, and St. Monica of Santa Monica holding at eighth.

Nationally, Maxpreps’ composite ranking shows Mater Dei as a unanimous No. 1 choice. St. John Bosco is tied for second with St. Frances Academy of Baltimore, which Mater Dei defeated on Sept. 14.
