The Nov. 4 quarterfinals of the CIF-Southern Section girls’ volleyball championships will feature 11 Catholic school teams still competing for titles in seven of the 10 divisions, after winning second round matches Nov. 2.

That group includes three of the Southland’s top four Division 1 teams: No. 1 Marymount, No. 2 Mater Dei and No. 4 Santa Margarita. Also advancing were La Salle, No. 1 in Division 3, and La Reina, No. 1 in Division 5, as well as Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks and St. Joseph/Lakewood (D-2), Alemany (D-4), St. Paul (D-5), Pomona Catholic (D-7) and Sacred Heart (D-9).

Following are the second round results, which the number of sets in parentheses (matches are best three of five), and quarterfinal matchups, with won-lost records:

Division 1: Marymount defeated Vista Murrieta (3); Mater Dei beat Mira Costa (4); Santa Margarita beat Rancho Cucamonga (3).

QF: Marymount (27-8) vs Long Beach Poly (30-5); Mater Dei (31-5) vs San Juan Hills (23-12); Santa Margarita (29-8) vs Redondo Union (31-4).

Division 2: Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks beat Hart (3); St. Joseph/Lakewood beat Westlake (5, 15-10 in the fifth).

QF: Notre Dame (28-7) vs El Dorado (25-7); St. Joseph (22-8) vs Orange Lutheran (15-13).

Division 3: La Salle beat Arcadia (3); Notre Dame Academy lost to Saddleback Valley Christian (4).

QF: La Salle (23-5) vs Yorba Linda (17-12).

Division 4: Alemany (28-4) beat Upland (3) and will play Crean Lutheran (17-2) in the quarterfinals.

Division 5: La Reina beat Costa Mesa (3); St. Paul beat Rim of the World (5 sets, 15-9 in the fifth); St. Anthony lost to Sonora (3).

QF: La Reina (27-6) vs Xavier Prep (22-4); St. Paul (23-10) vs Diamond Bar (16-9).

Division 6: Bishop Amat lost to Aquinas (3, 26-24 in the third).

Division 7: Pomona Catholic (17-8) beat Century (4) and will play Colony (20-5) in the quarterfinals.

Division 8: Providence lost to Nordhoff (4).

Division 9: Sacred Heart beat Orangewood Academy (3); Holy Family lost to Southlands Christian (5, 15-11 in the fifth).

QF: Sacred Heart (16-2) vs Glendale Adventist (19-5).

Quarterfinal matches are scheduled Nov. 4, and semifinals Nov. 7. The finals will be announced at a later date.
