The girls’ golf team of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks qualified for the CIF-Southern California Golf Association team championships after placing second in the Northern Division Regional on Nov. 4.

Playing at Elkins Ranch Golf Course in Fillmore, the Knights’ team of Marley Franklin, Liana Brown, Lauren Kim, Annie Buffalino, Hannah Kim and Melanie Lizarraga accumulated a score of 400, behind only Walnut at 376 (the top five scores are counted for the team total).

That enabled Notre Dame to advance to the team tournament along with 11 other schools. The top three teams in each division advance to the Nov. 7 team qualifier tournament at Western Hills Golf & Country Club, Chino Hills in conjunction with the individual championships, for which Brown had already qualified along with Vanessa Zhang of La Salle, Diana Delgado of Bishop Amat and Ryan Bullock of Santa Margarita.

No other Catholic schools advanced to the team finals, although J.Serra’s Krystina Wilson shot a 73 to place among the top 10 individual scores in the Central Regional at Los Serranos Country Club.

The CIF-SCGA championships take place on Nov. 14 at Brookside Golf Course, Pasadena, followed by the state championships on Nov. 19 at Poppy Hills Golf Course, Pebble Beach.
