More than 30 athletes and 10 relay teams from area Catholic Schools have qualified for the CIF-SS Master’s Track and Field Meet, to be held May 26 at Arcadia High School.
The list features Damien senior Zachary Shinnick, who posted the fastest qualifying time in the boys’ 400 meters, 46.93.
Second-best marks among boys’ competitors include Colby Corcoran, St. John Bosco junior, 9:18.08 in the 3200 meters, and Khalid Hunter, Chaminade senior, 23 feet in long jump. Among girls’ competitors, Marymount junior Malina Yago, has the second-fastest 800-meter time, 2:23.04; Santa Margarita senior Kate Thomas, the second-best pole vault, 12 feet 9 inches; and the Santa Margarita 4x100-meter relay team, second-fastest time, 46.28.
Several competitors qualified in more than one individual event, and may also participate in relays. Among the girls: Jasmin Reed, Serra senior, 100 and 200 meters; Trinity Ruelas, Bishop Amat senior, 1600 and 3200 meters; Nikki Merritt, Santa Margarita junior, 100- and 300-meter hurdles; and Allaida Patterson, Louisville senior, shot put and discus.

---Triple Jump: Elizabeth Weeks, Santa Margarita senior, and Bianca James, Mater Dei senior..
---Pole Vault: Santa Margarita seniors Kate Thomas, McKenna Caskey and Erin Gerardo.

Among boys’ events qualifiers, Blake Hennesay, Santa Margarita junior, will compete in the 100 meters and 300-meter hurdles. Other qualifiers include:
