Loyola of Los Angeles and St. Anthony of Long Beach remain in contention for CIF-Southern Section Boys’ Volleyball titles after victories in the May 4 quarterfinals.

In Division 1, fifth-seeded Loyola (22-4) defeated No. 4 Redondo Union 22-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-23, avenging an early-season loss. The Cubs will face No. 1 Newport Harbor (34-1), the country’s top-ranked team by Maxpreps, in the semifinals May 8.

In Division 4, second-seeded St. Anthony (29-3) ousted No. 10 Perris in four sets, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-12. In the May 8 semifinals, the Saints will face No. 3 Los Altos (27-4) who beat sixth-seeded Paraclete in four sets, 26-24, 16-25, 25-21, 25-23.

Two other Catholic schools saw their seasons end in the quarterfinals with four-set losses. In Division 2, No. 4 Alemany lost a hard-fought match to No. 5 West Ranch, 18-25, 25-23, 25-22, 27-25. And in Division 6, eighth-seeded Don Bosco Tech rallied but fell short to No. 1 Village Christian, 25-11, 25-18, 21-25, 26-24.
