Five Catholic school players who helped lead their teams into the CIF-Southern Section playoffs this spring were named to the 2018 All CIF-Southern Section Boys’ Volleyball team in their respective divisions.

Presented by the LA84 Foundation and selected by the CIF-SS Boys Volleyball Coaches' Association, the announcement of All-CIF selections was made June 11. Catholic school first team representatives included:

Division 1: Loyola senior middle blocker Jaxon Drake and sophomore outside hitter Luke Turner, part of the Cubs’ No. 2-ranked D-1 team that reached the CIF-SS semifinals and finished 25-3.

Division 2: Bishop Montgomery senior middle blocker and outside hitter Daniel Matheney, of the Knights’ fifth-ranked D-2 team that finished 19-10.

Division 3: Damien junior setter Andrew Piloto, whose Spartans finished 28-9 and ranked ninth in reaching the D-3 quarterfinals. 

Division 4: Bishop Amat senior outside hitter Zachary Burchardt, of the Lancers’ 16-11 squad that qualified for the D-4 playoffs.
