Boys’ tennis: Mater Dei edged in D-3 final

Mater Dei’s bid for a CIF-Southern Section Boys’ Tennis title fell just short May 10, when the Monarchs were defeated by San Juan Hills, 10-8, at Claremont Club.

As the first Catholic school from the Los Angeles Archdiocese or Orange Diocese to reach a CIF-SS final in boys’ tennis since J.Serra lost the D-3 final to Buckley in 2017, Mater Dei was seeking to become the first Catholic school champion since Santa Margarita won the D-2 title in 2015.

The Monarchs, second-seeded in D-3, ended the season 15-8.
