Servite High School boys’ golf team will compete in the CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championship, after finishing second in the Southern California Golf Association Team Qualifier on May 17 at Rancho San Marcos, Santa Barbara.

The Friars of Anaheim totalled 364, runner-up behind Palm Desert’s 344. The top four among the 14 competing teams (Loyola finished ninth), plus the top 28 individual players who are not part of a team already advancing, will compete in the Regional Championship on May 24 at Brookside Golf Course, Pasadena.

Individually, Servite was led by Cameron Xiao (70), Benjamin Hong (72) and Jack Rahon (75), who qualified for the individual championship along with Andrew Hoekstra of Mater Dei (76) and Caden McMackin of J.Serra (76). 

Earlier in the week, Servite finished first in the CIF Western Division championship at Mountain Meadows GC, scoring 358 led by Rahon’s 69. Other team members include Alex Hanz, Chad Deegan, Brendan Gonzalez and Kyle Kinnane.

Loyola finished second in the Central Division tournament at Lakewood CC, scoring 377, as Connor Brown, Ryan Duetsch and Brian Arnold each posted 74. St. Francis’ Henry Fitzhugh carded a 71.

The State Championship will be played May 30 at San Gabriel Country Club, San Gabriel.
