A group of young immigrants presented a basket of around 200 letters at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels Jan. 5. The letters expressed emotional pleas to President-elect Donald Trump, an effort organizers said could “soften” his heart in relation to his stance on immigration.

After the letters were blessed by Father David Gallardo, the pastor of the cathedral, they were given to Andrew Rivas, director of government relations for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who delivered them to Archbishop José H. Gomez.
