On April 23, the Lego Robotics Team at St. Euphrasia School, “The Incredibots,” earned first place in Robot Design at the Spring Showdown Robotics Competition at Westside School in Los Angeles.

Competing against 300 teams, the students at the Catholic school in Granada Hills exhibited their robot skills and teamwork, placing among the top teams. The competition judges students on robot design and core values. After the performance rounds, students are given 45 minutes to rebuild and reprogram their robot for an on-the-spot mission.

“We are proud of our St. Euphrasia Incredibots Team,” a school press release read. “They follow the core values that are central to the First Lego League competitions.” Last fall, the team also scored as a top team overall in the First Lego League Robotics Los Angeles Competition.

The school has partnered with Boeing, a company that matches employee mentors to work with school teams that design, build and test robots. Boeing supports problem-based learning opportunities related to STEM experiences and skills for students and their families.
