St. Anne’s, a leading social service agency based in Los Angeles, has appointed Lorna Little, MSW, as its new President and CEO.
“We conducted a national search for a uniquely qualified candidate who could lead St. Anne’s, and strengthen our vision of thriving families and brighter futures in Los Angeles. We are confident that we have found the ideal leader in Lorna Little, whose experience, commitment and expertise will be a remarkable asset to the vulnerable young mothers, children and families in our care,” said Dale Pelch, Board Chair for the 110-year-old organization.
“St. Anne’s history as a haven for young mothers and its responsiveness to the changing needs of the most vulnerable families in Los Angeles is inspiring. I am honored to have the opportunity to strengthen its mission of working together to build safe, nurturing and resilient families — from pregnancy to parenthood and childhood to adulthood — for generations to come,” Little said in a statement.
Little previously served as Executive Director of St. Agnes Family Center in West Hartford, Connecticut, for 13 years. She established new partnerships for the 103-year-old organization, increased public and private revenue and led its transition from a housing program for mothers and babies into a comprehensive agency providing self-sufficiency and empowerment to young women.
“Lorna Little’s experience at an organization with similar roots and her passion for serving those that St. Anne’s has served for 110 years were important factors in our decision,” shared Pelch. “We look to our history as a safe haven for young mothers and their babies as our guiding light; ultimately ensuring the safety and success of the entire family is our goal. The entire board and I are pleased to have found someone who understands our past, and can lead us in the present and into the future.”
Little is an author of the book “Mums the Word!”, her personal story of late discovery adoption. She is also a seasoned media producer and television personality, previously hosting her own local television show with national guests and celebrities including Gayle King and LL Cool J. Her background melds an interesting mix of social services and media entertainment.
