On Feb. 12, San Gabriel Mission High School raised more than $5,000 in a Dominican Day dance-a-thon, an annual school fundraiser for the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose. All monies raised went to purchase mattresses for the sisters’ Mother House.
Dominican Day was an all-day event for students, faculty and parents. Participants enjoyed activities including face painting and balloon art. Sister Rebecca Shinas, OP, RCIA coordinator at St. Simon Parish in Los Altos, Calif., served as guest speaker.
The event celebrated the 800th anniversary of the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose, and brought together students from San Gabriel Mission Elementary, Santa Teresita School, Sacred Heart Elementary, St. Ignatius Elementary, St. Michael’s and St. Francis Cabrini.
