Marcelo Cesena returns to the U.S. with the Giotto Suite

Inspired by the great Italian frescoes of the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, Marcelo Cesena has composed an original work on piano that invites audiences to discover what motivated Giotto to create them.

The evening will be a presentation of the suite in 12 movements, accompanied by a projection of the work that inspired it.

The original suite, by the award-winning Brazilian composer, will be an exploration of the life of Jesus, from his birth, scenes of his public life, passion, death, and resurrection as narrated by Giotto in his frescos and ending with the moving final judgment.

Cesna will be performing on September 12, 2018, at the Santa Monica Public Library Auditorium, 601 Santa Monica Blvd, Santa Monica, CA 90401, 7-8:30 p.m.
