On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the Queen of Angels Foundation will celebrate the 237th birthday of the City of Los Angeles. Our Lady of Angels, the city’s namesake and patronness, will be honored with a Votive Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, presided by Archbishop José H. Gomez, at 3 p.m.
A Grand Marian Procession from the Cathedral to Our Lady Queen of Angels Church (La Placita) will follow, ending with a blessing at La Placita Church and a fiesta at the church’s plaza at 5:45 p.m.
Banners, flags, color guards and bagpipers will highlight the processional parade, which will include members of the Knights of Columbus, the Knights of Peter Claver, the Order of Malta, the Order of St. Lazarus, the Order of St. Gregory, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher — together with a multitude of Catholic faithful, and members of several religious orders.
