Catholic parishes in the LA area serving the poor of their communities this holiday season now have a helping hand of their own to turn to.

The Office of Life, Justice, and Peace of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (OLJP) announced parishes can apply for the CCHD (Catholic Campaign for Human Development) Kindness Grant during the next week. Grant amounts will range from $200 to $2000, and will be directed towards supporting local parishes’ charity efforts and works of mercy.

This new opportunity was inspired by St. Mother Teresa’s words to “be the living expression of God’s kindness,” the archdiocese said in a Dec. 10 email to parishes.

“We know that many people are in need, including our parishes,” said OLJP Senior Director Kathleen Domingo. “The idea is to do a quick turnaround of small, local grants to help families in need, and to supplement parishes for the good work they are doing at Christmas time.”

Parishes interested are encouraged to send their application to [email protected] with the subject line “Parish Name - Local CCHD Kindness Grant,” or fill out this form. The deadline to apply is December 16.
