“Ecumenical and Interreligious Relations: A Catholic Ministry,” an eight-month certification program at Mount St. Mary’s College, will beginits monthly meetings Sept. 20 at the Doheny campus near downtown.

 The classes, led by Father Alexei R. Smith, ecumenical and interreligious affairs officer of the archdiocese, will explore how to broaden and deepen the Catholic ministry of ecumenical and interreligious relations as individuals, parish communities, and as a Church. This course will examine the history of Catholicism within the wider Christian world (ecumenism), and Catholic relations with non-Christians (interreligious affairs), looking at a shared, complex history through a variety of lenses.

Subsequent class dates are Oct. 11, Nov. 22, Dec. 6, Jan. 17, Feb. 21, April 18 and May 9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at MSMC’s Doheny campus, 10 Chester Pl., Los Angeles.
