Catholic health care professionals will receive special recognition during the White Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The Mass will take place on Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m., with a reception to follow.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the Mission Doctors Association are hosting the event to acknowledge the unique contributions of Catholic physicians and medical personnel. The White Mass takes its name from the white coat commonly worn by medical professionals.

An annual tradition since 2009, the event’s growing crowds required larger churches each year, until the cathedral became the event’s home in 2013. Archbishop José H. Gomez will be the principal celebrant.
