Holy Name of Mary Parish will host an environmental seminar in response to Pope Francis’ most recent encyclical, Laudato Si’. Ministries and schools are welcome to attend the event on Sept. 24 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Dr. Josh Fisher, a climate scientist from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, will explain the scientific reasons for climate change. The seminar will address environmental stresses that gravely impact our communities and ecosystems.
Students at St. Joseph in Pomona are preparing for the event by writing essays and drawing posters. Eighth-grader Logan Morales wrote, “To be a good steward of the earth, a person must be aware of what he does on a daily basis. It can be as simple as turning off the faucet when not in use.”
For more information about the event, please call Charlie Martinez, director of pastoral ministries, at (909) 599-1243, ext. 140 or email [email protected]. The church’s address is 724 E Bonita Avenue, San Dimas.
