The William H. Hannon Foundation has provided a $10,000 grant to support the Los Angeles program of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps for the program year beginning this month.
Currently, there are 20 Jesuit Volunteers working in 13 social service agencies, parishes and Catholic schools. During the current program year, it is anticipated that Jesuit Volunteers will contribute more than 40,000 hours of service to agencies throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
“The William H. Hannon Foundation’s previous financial support has been fundamentally important, making possible the placement of Jesuit Volunteers in Los Angeles area nonprofit organizations, which directly affect thousands of people for the better among the poor and disenfranchised,” said Mary Claire Ryan, Jesuit Volunteer Corps president.
Agencies assisted include Dolores Mission Church and School, Proyecto Pastoral, The Chrysalis Center, Homeboy Industries, Urban Compass, Verbum Dei High School, My Friend’s Place, St. Francis Center, Daybreak Center, St. Joseph Center (Family Self-Sufficiency, Bread & Roses Café and Culinary Training, and Homeless Service Center), Jovenes Inc. and Upward Bound House.
