On Oct. 8, the Don Bosco Technical Institute (Bosco Tech) was awarded a $250,000 grant for the construction of emerging technologies laboratories and curriculum development. The Fletcher Jones Foundation awarded the grant in order to allow the school to focus on three STEM-related fields of green technologies, 3D design prototyping and robotic systems.
“Bosco Tech is extremely grateful for the Fletcher Jones Foundation’s support and confidence in our students and our programs,” Bosco Tech President Xavier Jimenez said in a press release. “The new laboratories will function as central learning hubs for students to broaden their understanding of engineering in a sophisticated, real-world environment where disciplines are integrated in up-and-coming professional fields.”
The Fletcher Jones Foundation, established in 1969, primarily supports private colleges and universities in California, but shares in Bosco Tech’s mission of providing talented young men — many from underserved communities — with advanced educational opportunities.
