Santa Monica College will present “Elephant’s Graveyard,” by George Brant, from March 20 to March 29.

The modern play is based on the true story of Mary the elephant, a circus animal that killed her trainer during a 1916 performance in Ervin, Tennessee. The production will explore the townspeople’s reaction, the legend that arose from the tragic incident and what the story’s events say about man’s need for spectacle.

Show times include March 20, 21, 27, 28 at 8 p.m., and March 22, 28, 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets for general admission are $15 per person and tickets for SMC students and senior citizens are $12 per person. Each ticket will carry an additional one-dollar service fee.

The event will be located in the main stage at Santa Monica College, 1900 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica. For more information please call (310) 434-4319.
