A therapist responsible for dealing with allegations of sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has been appointed to serve at a national level for the U.S. bishops’ committee on the Protection of Children and Young People.

Suzanne Healy has served as the victim assistance coordinator for the archdiocese for the last decade. A licensed marriage and family therapist, Healy also worked as a high school counselor. Prior to becoming a therapist, Healy also served for 18 years in strategic planning experience for AT&T Pacific Bell. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s in marriage, family and child counseling from California State University, Los Angeles.

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo appointed Healy along with three other experts in communications, victim outreach and health care. All four will serve on the National Review Board (NRB) for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
