Hundreds are expected to unite for a multicultural procession on Saturday, Aug. 25th, from the Cathedral to La Placita in downtown LA

Archbishop José H. Gomez will celebrate a votive Mass to honor the Patroness of the City of Los Angeles on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

Following the Mass, hundreds representing the city's multicultural communities will join the Archbishop to celebrate the 237th birthday of the City of Los Angeles with a procession to La Placita Church and a fiesta in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Angels, for whom the City is named. The procession will include banners, flags, color guards and bagpipers.

The celebration, organized by The Queen of Angels Foundation, honors the Blessed Mother and recalls the City's Christian roots. When the City of Los Angeles was founded in 1781, civic and religious leaders prayed every year, for the first 100 years, for the intercession of the Virgin Mary, Our Lady Queen of Angels, to protect the fledgling pueblo, El Pueblo de Nuestra Se√±ora la Reina de Los Ángeles de Porci√∫ncula.

The Mass at Cathedral will be live streamed at
