Father Daniel Barica, OFM, former pastor of St. Barbara Parish, has combined his photographic talents and love of nature to create the 2016 Liturgical Franciscan Calendar. The collection of nature photos pays tribute to Pope Francis’ most recent encyclical while honoring the beauty of God’s creation.
Father Barica studied photography in college and is an avid gardener in addition to enjoying photographing nature. His calendar is titled “Laudato Si, Mi Signore,” a reference to Pope Francis’ encyclical, which states, “Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.”
Calendars are available for sale in the St. Barbara parish office and at Sts. Simon & Jude Church in Huntington Beach for $15 each; proceeds will support the Franciscan Friars of the Province of St. Barbara. For more information, please visit ssj.org.
