Exactly 75 years to the day it opened, St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo celebrated its diamond anniversary Sept. 12 with a special Mass in the Seminary Chapel. Archbishop José Gomez presided; Father Leon Hutton, St. John’s vice rector, gave the homily; and seminarians sang the “Salve Regina.”
The next major event at St. John’s is its Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner, scheduled Sept. 28 beginning at 4:30 p.m. with Vespers. Honorees at the seventh annual event are Auxiliary Bishop Gerald Wilkerson, Monsignors Helmut Hefner and Norm Priebe, Father Tom Peacha, and Michael Clements.
