Servite High School in Anaheim celebrated brotherhood, service and leadership earlier this year as it honored community leaders during its sixth annual Excellence in Leadership Dinner at the Anaheim Hilton.

The March 5 event honored alumni, faculty and other community leaders who live out values consistent with Servite’s standards. The honorees for the evening included the Faley family as Distinguished Alumni (Mike ’75, Tim ’80, Terry ’81, Dan ’82 and James “Moose” ’85), as well as longtime Servite supporter Bruno Serato, who received the Community Leader Award.

“Bruno exemplifies many of the virtues we hope our students will live as alumni,” said Servite president Peter Bowen.

Dennis Kuhl, chairman of the Angels MLB team, was also honored with the National Leader Award and was the evening’s keynote speaker.

“There is only one true leader … if we follow Him we will be great leaders,” Kuhl said. “The most important part about receiving this award tonight is not the plaque or anything else, but it’s the people that give it to you that makes the difference.”

The event raised a total of $217,000. The proceeds will go in support of the Servite Capital Campaign for new facilities and financial aid endowments.
