Religious Order and Extern Jubilarian Priests

Following are brief profiles of religious order and extern priests serving in Los Angeles who are celebrating their golden and silver jubilees of ordination in 2011. (The Oct. 7 issue will feature religious sisters and brothers celebrating jubilees in 2011.)Golden Jubilarians Father Francis Chrysostom, from Sri Lanka, was ordained Jan. 1, 1961. He is a retired medical center chaplain.Father Michael Saso, a native of Oregon, was ordained March 18, 1961. He is retired.Father James Bradley, SDS, is an associate pastor at St. Bruno Church, Whittier. A native of County Meath, Ireland, he was ordained a Society of the Divine Savior priest June 29, 1961. Father Thomas Cusack, SSC, was born in County Galway, Ireland, and is a member of the Columban Fathers Procure. He was ordained Dec. 21, 1961.Father Michael Hoolahan, CP, resides at the Passionist community in Sierra Madre. Born in New Jersey, he was ordained a Passionist priest May 27, 1961.Father Ermete Nazzani, CS, is a native of Italy, ordained a Scalabrini priest March 18, 1961. He is the director of Villa Scalabrini retirement center in Sun Valley.Father Richard Rolfs, SJ, was ordained a Jesuit priest July 26, 1961. A native of Wisconsin, he resides at Loyola Marymount University, Westchester.Father Willam Schafer, SDB, was born in Berkeley and ordained a Salesian priest Feb. 11, 1961. He resides at Don Bosco Technical Institute, Rosemead.Silver Jubilarians Father Stanley Bosch, ST, a member of the Trinitarian order, was born in Virginia and ordained June 7, 1986. He was pastor of Our Lady of Victory and Sagrado Corazon, both in Compton. He now resides at St. Michael, Los Angeles.Father Edward Broom, OMV, is a native of Detroit, ordained May 25, 1986. He is a member of the Oblates of the Blessed Virgin Mary congregation and has served as associate at St. Peter Chanel, Hawaiian Gardens since 1993.Father Emmanuel Dow, CSsR, a native of Vietnam, was ordained Jan. 1, 1986 at Sacred Heart, Altadena. He is a member of the Vietnamese Redemptorist community and serves as chaplain at St. Mary Medical Center, Long Beach.Father Robert Scholla, SJ, born in Long Beach, grew up attending Holy Trinity Church, San Pedro (where priests helped him realize his vocation), and was ordained June 7, 1986 at St. Ignatius Church, San Francisco. He was on the faculty of Loyola High School and is currently the rector at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.Father Edward Smink, OH, born in New Jersey and ordained Aug. 15, 1986 at St. Joseph’s Chapel, Ojai, is a member of the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God and is chaplain at St. John of God Retirement and Care Center, Los Angeles. He previously served as chaplain at St. Mary Medical Center and Robert Kennedy Medical Center in Hawthorne.
