A Planned Parenthood-sponsored bill — legislation targeting those involved with the undercover videos of abortion providers — has been signed into law. Gov. Jerry Brown (D-Calif.,) announced Assembly Bill 1671 without additional comment.

The Los Angeles Times editorial board is calling the bill “bad for whistleblowers” since the bill criminalizes the recording or distribution of a private conversation with a health care provider.

The legislation responds to the Center for Medical Progress that recorded Planned Parenthood executives saying they profit from the sale of aborted fetal body parts, which is a felony in the United States.

While Planned Parenthood has denied these allegations, a congressional committee is investigating the matter.
