The following religious order and extern priests ordained in 1962 currently serve in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles either in active service or in residence.Jesuit Father Cornelius M. Buckley was ordained July 31, 1962 at the seminary at Chantilly, Oise, France. Born in Los Angeles in 1925, he was for many years in Jesuit education in San Francisco, and authored several books. He later was chaplain at Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, and since 2004 has been head chaplain at Thomas Aquinas College, Santa Paula.Divine Word Missionary Father Charles Burns was born in Greenville, Miss., in 1932, and ordained June 1, 1962 in Bay St. Louis, Miss. He has lived at St. John of God Retirement Center since 2004.Father Raul Cortes was born in 1933 in Mexico and ordained in Guadalajara March 17, 1962. He is in residence at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Reseda.Columban Father Thomas Cusack was born in County Galway, Ireland 1933, ordained Dec. 21, 1962 in Ireland. He is in residence with the Columban Fathers in Los Angeles. Father Paul Donlan was born in Boston 1938, is a member of Opus Dei and was ordained August 5, 1962 in Madrid, Spain. He serves as Chaplain at Tilden Study Center in Los Angeles. Father Primitivo Gonzalez was ordained April 7, 1962 in Mexico where he was born in 1936. He serves at St. Rose of Lima Church, Maywood.Redemptorist Father Peter T.D. Ngo was ordained Dec. 22, 1962 in Vietnam, born there in 1934. He is retired and lives at the Vietnamese Redemptorist House in Baldwin Park.Salesian Father John M. O’Brien was born in Iowa in 1933 and ordained March 25, 1962, at the Instituto Teologico Salesiano in Italy. Now retired, he resides at St. Joseph Salesian Youth Center in Rosemead.Vincentian Father John Shine was ordained Jan. 1, 1962 at St. Mary’s Seminary in Missouri. He was born in Kansas City in 1936 and is retired, living at St. Mary Seminary in Santa Barbara.Carmelite Father Tracy O’Sullivan was born in Chicago in 1935 and ordained May 26, 1962 at St. Raymond Church, Joilet, Ill. He is the pastor at St. Raphael parish in South Los Angeles.Sacred Hearts Father Patrick Travers served more than 40 years at Damien High School, La Verne, including 30 as principal. In that time he formed the Tijuana Mission Outreach Foundation, supporting an outreach program in which students and their fathers build houses for the less fortunate in a poverty-stricken area near Tijuana. Father Travers has served the past year as administrator of Holy Innocents Church, Victorville. Msgr. John L. Ukaegbu was ordained July 29, 1962 in Nigeria where he was born in 1937. He is an associate at St. Mary of the Assumption in Santa Maria.
