On Monday, July 8, Senator Jerry Hill withdrew SB 360, just hours before its hearing. Thanks to the grassroots efforts within the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and from Catholics and other faith leaders throughout the state, the bill cannot be re-introduced this year. “This is a sign of the great faith and vitality of our Catholic community and the importance of confession to our religious identity and practice,” Archbishop Gomez said in a statement on July 8.
