St. John's Seminary will honor three of its distinguished alumni and a dedicated Catholic leader at its Annual Gala this year.
The event is set for Saturday, September 22, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, and will benefit St. John's mission to prepare priests for service in the Archdiocese.
The seminary's “Distinguished Alumni Award” will be presented to Msgr. Richard Krekelberg, pastor of St. Rita's Church in Sierra Madre; Deacon Bob Seidler, administrator pro tern at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Santa Clarita and assistant to the bishop in the San Fernando Pastoral Region; and Msgr. Francis Weber, archivist emeritus for the Archdiocese.
Sister Mary Elizabeth Galt, BVM, chancellor and senior director of pastoral services for the Archdiocese, will receive the Seminary's “Evangelii Gaudium” (Joy of the Gospel) award.
“We are honored to have such distinguished and deserving leaders as our award recipients,” said Dan Schwala, St. John's Board president and Annual Gala Committee chair. “In turn, they tell us that they are honored to help share the message that St. John's Seminary belongs to all of us — every parish, every person — and that we all have a role to play in supporting its efforts and the men discerning their calling.”
Bishop Joseph Brennan will be the master of ceremonies for the event, which begins with a reception on the Cathedral Plaza, followed by dinner, the awards ceremony and dancing.
