Fifty-four couples — celebrating 75, 62, or 25 years of matrimony — renewed their wedding vows on Sunday, Feb. 11, during the World Marriage Day Masses at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.

Archbishop José H. Gomez celebrated the renewal of marriage vows at the 10:00 a.m. Mass in English (31 couples) and at the 12:30 p.m. in Spanish (23 couples). He took photographs with the couples after each Mass. At the end of the Mass, couples received a commemorative certificate.

World Marriage Day, celebrated the second Sunday of February, honors the beauty of loyalty, sacrifice and joy in the daily married life of couples. World Marriage Day received the Apostolic Blessing of Pope John Paul II in 1993.
