On Wednesday, June 6, Archbishop José H. Gomez and Bishop-elect Marc V. Trudeau, new auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, celebrated Solemn Vespers and the Blessing of the Pontifical Insignia on the eve of the Ordination of the Bishop-elect, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.

The insignia of a bishop (ring, miter and staff) are outward signs of his identity as high priest. The ring symbolizes his fidelity and bond with the Church, while the miter and staff are signs of his authority.

Archbishop José H. Gomez will ordain Bishop-elect Marc V. Trudeau as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles on Thursday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.
