Deacon Victor Ceja died Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
In 2013, Victor and his wife Maria de Lourdes (Lulu) embarked on their journey to become a deacon couple. It was their way of answering the call to give their lives to Christ. Five years later, in 2018, Victor was ordained a Deacon for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and was assigned to the parish he loved, Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Downey.
Victor had a thriving ministry; he shared his love of marriage with other couples at Marriage Encounters, he loved assisting with the parish liturgies, he helped others find Christ in the RCIA program, he comforted parishioners who had lost loved ones, he visited those who were sick, and he brought the mercy of God to those who were imprisoned. He gave so much, and yet he had so much more to give.
Victor, who is now reunited with his son Alex in Heaven, is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria de Lourdes; four daughters, April, Chris, Stephanie and Isabella; and one granddaughter, Olivia.
A Funeral Mass will be held for Dn. Victor on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to COVID-restrictions, attendance at the service is limited to family only.
