Deacon Celso Kalaw Roxas died Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
Deacon Celso was born in the Philippines in 1948, and raised in a devoted Catholic family. He attended De La Salle University, graduating in Business Administration, which led him to become General Manager of a family-owned bank. After emigrating to the United States, Celso eventually landed at Anthem Blue Cross, where he worked for 22 years until his retirement.
From a very early age, Celso was devoted to our Blessed Mother and loved spending time in prayer and adoration before the Eucharist. He was involved in many devotional groups, and was appointed Spiritual Advisor for his parish’s Legion of Mary group.
In 2014, Celso was ordained a deacon for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and together with his wife Agnes, served faithfully at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Hills. Celso and Agnes were involved with many charismatic prayer organizations, including SCRC, El Shaddai, and the Filipino-American Charismatic Renewal Community.
Dn. Celso is survived by his wife Agnes, 4 children; Ramon, Celso Jr., Preciosa and Lawrence, and 11 grandchildren.
