As more coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are reported in the U.S., the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has issued new directives, just days after distributing initial guidelines. The updated precautions have placed certain restrictions on the celebration of the Mass.

In a statement released March 6, the Archdiocese has suspended the distribution of the Precious Blood, and recommended that all faithful receive Holy Communion on the hand. Parishioners should refrain from shaking hands at the sign of peace and holding hands at the Lord’s Prayer, and holy water will be removed from all fonts that do not have filtration systems.

The Archdiocese also reminded the faithful that those who are ill should stay home from Sunday Masses, schools, and work. More information can be found at LACatholics.org/emergency.
