The boys’ basketball teams of St. Pius X-St. Matthias and Providence/Burbank and the girls’ squad of Bishop Diego are ranked No. 1 in the CIF-Southern Section polls issued Jan. 21.
Among boys’ teams, Providence (Division 3AA) and St. Pius X-St. Matthias (D-4A) held their top spots from the previous week. In girls’ basketball, Bishop Diego returned to the top spot it held two weeks ago, then lost last week.
Boys’ teams from Chaminade and Salesian, as well as girls’ teams from Mater Dei, La Salle and Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks, were all ranked third in their divisions. Falling a few spots each in the polls from No. 2 were Servite’s boys’ and Bishop Amat’s girls’ teams.
A host of other local Catholic schools are represented in this week’s top 16s, presented here (last week’s rankings are in parentheses for those teams that changed positions):
