Six local Catholic high schools and organizations will benefit from grants from the William H. Hannon Foundation totaling $225,000.
Aquinas High School (San Bernardino), Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (La Cañada), Mary Star of the Sea High School (San Pedro), Marymount High School (Los Angeles), St. Anthony High School (Long Beach), Xavier College Preparatory (Palm Desert), as well as The Association of Catholic Student Councils (TACSC), were awarded the grants this month, the foundation announced.
The grants will help the schools provide scholarship and tuition relief for students in need, offset the costs of infrastructure changes, and help lower retreat costs for students.
“The generosity and impact of the William H. Hannon Foundation cannot be understated,” said Heidi Johnson, executive director at TACSC. “With their latest generous grant, we are able to continue our mission of developing moral leaders, anchored in faith, who positively impact our world.”
Supporting Catholic education has been a pillar of the William H. Hannon Foundation since its founding in 1983 by the late Catholic philanthropist and real estate developer William Hannon.
“All of these schools and TACSC play integral roles in the education and formation of the next generation of Catholic leaders,” said Jim Hannon, Treasurer of the William H. Hannon Foundation and President of the TACSC Board of Directors.
“Through these grants, we are able to further promote the welfare and education of the young men and women in these schools – something my late uncle and founder of The William H. Foundation was passionate about,” added Hannon, who is a graduate of Loyola High School of Los Angeles and a former chairman of their Board of Directors.
