The CIF-Southern Section Baseball Tournament continues May 22 with second round games, with eight Catholic school teams remaining after first round games played May 17 and 18.
The second round will feature one all-Catholic contest: Alemany (18-11) against St. Bonaventure (21-5), a rematch of their March 7 contest, which Alemany won 5-0.
Following are the results of first round play:
Division 1: Bishop Amat d. J.W. North 5-4; Etiwanda d. J.Serra 8-4; Gahr d. Chaminade 6-3; South Hills d. Servite 2-1. Second round: Bishop Amat vs. Valencia/Valencia.
Division 2: Calabasas d. Damien 5-2; Alemany d. El Segundo 2-1; St. Bonaventure d. Simi Valley 1-0. Second round: Alemany vs. St. Bonaventure.
Division 3: La Salle d. Charter Oak 5-0; Bellflower d. Cantwell-Sacred Heart 4-1. Second round: La Salle vs. Temecula Valley.
Division 4: Montebello d. St. Paul 1-0.
Division 5: St. Joseph/Santa Maria d. Buckley 9-0; Sunny Hills d. Mary Star 8-1. Second round: St. Joseph/Santa Maria vs. Summit.
Division 6: Bishop Diego d. St. Anthony 3-2; St. Bernard d. Santa Clara 9-0. Second round: Bishop Diego vs. Savanna; St. Bernard vs. Carnegie/Riverside.
Division 7: St. Genevieve d. Arroyo 2-0; Dominguez d. St. Monica Academy 2-0. Second round: St. Genevieve vs. Fillmore.
In wild card action, Moorpark beat Notre Dame/Sherman Oaks 3-1 (Division 1) and Village Christian beat Paraclete 3-2 (Division 2). In Division 4, St. Paul defeated Covina 6-5, and Bishop Montgomery lost to Pacifica/Oxnard 8-7.
Quarterfinal games will be played May 25, semifinals May 29, and finals June 1 and 2.
