Marymount California University in Rancho Palos Verdes is presenting a free independent film series named in remembrance of Takuma Ito and Go Matsuura, two Japanese Marymount film students who were tragically killed in 1994.
The Ito/Matsuura film series is being presented at the university’s Klaus Center for the Arts, located at 430 West Sixth Street in San Pedro, which was opened earlier this year.
On Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. the Klaus Center will present “Elina Must Find Justice” (alternately titled “Getting Rid of Jack”), the latest film by writer/director/professor Bruce R. Schwartz. Following the screening there will be a Q&A session with Mr. Schwartz and Mason Howard, a former Marymount film student who served as both cinematographer and editor of the film. The film series will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. with “In a Perfect World,” a feature documentary about single women raising sons on their own. Writer/director Daphne McWilliams will be on hand for a Q&A with the audience.
