The Mission Circle at St. John Fisher Church is requesting donations for the children at the St. Bernadette´s Children´s Centre in Peru. Father Tony Coney opened the center after witnessing the neglected children on the streets of San Martin de Porres in Lima, Peru. He founded the center as a safe place for children to build healthy friendships.
With the financial support from Catholics in the United States and Ireland, Father Coney was able to furnish a two-story building as a center for children aged 3 to 16. The center operates all day, providing children with a place to complete schoolwork, make crafts and play.
Father Coney is also responsible for the St. Bernadette Mission, which has a school for children with learning disabilities and a home for abused children, which provides family therapy and child protective services. Approximately 1,000 children are cared for at the mission every day. All services are provided free of charge.
Despite generous donations, Father Coney struggles to maintain the St. Bernadette Children’s Project. As a result, the St. John Fisher Mission Circle was created to raise necessary funds to benefit the children.
