Deacon William Dale Taufer died March 25, 2024, at the age of 95.
Deacon Dale was born on January 5, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He moved with his family to North Hollywood, California. He subsequently served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950 through 1953. After returning home, Dale met his wife Angelina (Angela) Susca at the CYO in Glendale, and they were married on October 20, 1956, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in North Hollywood.
Deacon Dale worked as a teacher and coach and continued his education at California State University, Los Angeles, while he and Angela raised their family. Dale and Angela had three children, Alison, Julie, and Sean. They also have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Deacon Dale was ordained on June 10, 1995, and was originally assigned to St. Maximillian Kolbe Church in Westlake Village. Since 1996 Deacon Dale had served at St. Bernardine of Siena Church in Woodland Hills.
DeaconDale served the infirm as a volunteer chaplain at West Hills Hospital and at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital & Retirement Home. At the parish, he served those who were grieving and hurting in the Bereavement and the Peace & Justice ministries.
His wife of 67 years, along with his children and family, ask for your prayers.
A funeral Mass will be held on Tues., April 16, at 11 a.m., at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary Chapel, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345. Priests and deacons who wish to attend are invited to vest in an alb and white stole. Interment will take place at Mission Hills Cemetery following the funeral Mass.
