On July 22, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles celebrated the vibrant ethnic diversity of the local Catholic community with its 3rd annual picnic in Griffith Park. The event’s entertainment included traditional Korean songs and dances, Salvadorian cultural dances and a pi√±ata for the children.
The Office of Ethnic Ministry, which seeks to empower ethnic leaders to build up faith communities, hosted the event. Across the three counties that make up the archdiocese — Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara — Catholic Masses are celebrated in more than 40 languages each Sunday.
Next month the Ethnic Ministry office will host the annual Cultures Mass on Sept. 16 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Downtown L.A., with the call to worship at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass at 10 a.m.
