State regional

The CIF/SCGA Southern State Regional Championships on May 23 at Brookside Golf Course, Pasadena, produced fine efforts from among Catholic school competitors, but none qualified for the May 29 state championships in Pebble Beach.

Crespi’s Barahona shot 71, tied for ninth, just missing out on qualifying for the state individual tournament. Servite’s Hanz had a 73, tied for 18th, and teammate Hong and Mater Dei’s Cantafio each had 74.

Servite’s 377 placed fourth in team scoring behind La Costa Canyon’s 367, with Mater Dei sixth at 379. Only the top three teams made the state finals.
