Father Robert Gallagher died Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was a priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for 45 years, serving as principal of St. Paul High School in Santa Fe Springs as well as associate pastor at St. Joseph in Hawthorne and Our Lady of Peace in North Hills. Father Gallagher was pastor at St. Charles Borromeo from 2000 until his retirement.
Father Enrique De Los Rios died Saturday, July 7, 2018. Father De Los Rios was a diocesan priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 2000 until his retirement in June 2018. He was an associate pastor at several parishes, including St. Alphonsus in Los Angeles and St. Elizabeth in Altadena.
Father James J. Melley died Sunday, July 1, 2018. Father Melley was the Chaplain of the Archdiocese for the Military Services from November 1987-October 2001.
Father William A. Ryan, O.S.A. died Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Father Ryan was a religious order priest who served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He was an associate pastor at Our Mother of Good Counsel in Los Angeles, and a resident at St. Thomas Aquinas in Ojai.
Father John P.H. Won died Thursday, June 7, 2018. Father Won served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1986 until his retirement in 2004. He was the associate pastor at St. Vibiana Cathedral in Los Angeles and St. Christopher Church in West Covina.
Father Michael J. Hoolahan, C.P. died Saturday, June 2, 2018. Father Hoolahan was ordained a priest in 1961, and spent several years at Immaculate Conception Parish in Chicago, IL. He also served on the staff of Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center in Sierra Madre, CA., and assisted at Sts. Felicitas and Perpetua Parish in San Marino.
Father Jesús Vela, O.F.M., Cap. died Friday, May 25, 2018. Father Vela served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1998 until his death. He entered the Capuchin Order in 1991, and was ordained in 1998. Father Vela served as associate pastor at several parishes, and pastor at St. Lawrence of Brindisi in Los Angeles. He was also a Chaplain for the LA Police Department, and was the vocation director at San Lorenzo Friary.
Deacon Joe Manion died Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Deacon Joe was ordained as deacon in 2000, and served on the staff of St. Jude’s Church. Along with his wife Carol, he also served on the Los Angeles Archdiocesan Diaconate Council, the Deacon Selection Committee, and the Los Angeles Deacon Formation Staff.
Father Domingo Y. Zuñiga, C.M.F. died Sunday, May 6, 2018. Father Zuñiga was a religious order priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1983 until his retirement. He served as associate pastor at Our Lady Queen of Angeles and Our Lady of Solitude, both in Los Angeles, and as a resident at Casa Claret in Rancho Dominguez.
Deacon Richard Acquaviva died Friday, May 4, 2018. Deacon Dick, as he was known, was ordained permanent deacon in 1982, and served the Catholic Community of St. Clare of Assisi Church in Santa Clarita until his retirement.
Father Fernando Iglesias died Saturday, April 23, 2018. Father Iglesias was a diocesan priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1956-2003. He served as pastor at several parishes, including Holy Family Church in Wilmington, St. Philip Neri in Lynwood, and St. Mariana de Paredes Church in Pico Rivera.
Father Thomas Joyce, CMF died Friday, April 6, 2018. Father Joyce became a Claretian Missionary in 1951, and was ordained as a priest in 1959. He spent time in Rome, Germany, England, Washington, D.C., Jamaica, and Chicago, before requesting a move to the Dominguez Seminary in Rancho Dominguez. He was active in the Congregational programs of Justice, Creation and Integrity of life.
Monsignor Patrick Reilly died Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Msgr. Reilly served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1958 until his retirement. He was the associate pastor at several parishes, including Nativity Catholic Church, and Pastor Emeritus at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church in Burbank.
Father Edward Landreau died Saturday, March 31, 2018. Father Landreau was a diocesan priest in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1957-2015, and served as associate pastor at several parishes, including St. Catherine Laboure in Torrance. He also served as administrator and Pastor Emeritus at St. Frances of Rome in Azusa.
Father Diosdado Martin died Tuesday, March 27, 2018. Father Martin was ordained in 1966 and retired in 2013. During his time in the Archdiocese, he served as the pastor of a number of parishes, including All Souls Church in Alhambra.
Father James Stephen Tucker died Friday, March 23, 2018. Father Tucker was ordained in 1969, and served as the associate pastor at both St. Euphrasia in Granada Hills and Our Lady of Lourdes in Tujunga. He was released to the Society of Priest of St. Sulpice, and remained incardinated in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Father Luigi Zanotto, M.C.C.J. died Saturday, March 17, 2018. Father Zanotto was a religious order priest, and served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles from 1992 to 2007 as associate pastor and pastor for St. Albert the Great Church in Rancho Dominguez, and pastor at St. Cecilia Church in Los Angeles.
Father Rody Ignatius Gorman, pastor emeritus of St. Matthias Church in Huntington Park, died on Wednesday, March, 14, 2018. Father Gorman was ordained in 1955, and served as associate pastor in many parishes in the area, including Our Lady of Refuge in Long Beach. He was the administrator pro tem at both St. Helen Church in South Gate and St. Matthias.
Father Roderic M. Guerrini, pastor emeritus of St. Mark Church in Venice, died on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. Father Guerrini was a diocesan priest in Los Angeles from 1976 to 2009. He served as the associate pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Santa Clarita, and the pastor of St. Mark Catholic Church in Venice.
Father Thomas James Peacha, pastor emeritus of Holy Trinity Church in Los Angeles, died on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Father Peacha was ordained in 1959, and served the Archdiocese of Los Angeles until his retirement in 2016. He was associate pastor at several parishes, including St. Basil Catholic Church in Los Angeles, and was the pastor at both St. Cecilia Church and Holy Trinity Church in Los Angeles.
Father Ernest N. Candelaria, CSJ, died on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Father Ernest was ordained in 1958, and served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles as a teacher at Paraclete High School and Lancaster, an associate pastor at St. Peter Church in San Pedro and Casa Nazareth Church in Los Angeles, and as an administrator at St. Junípero Serra Church in Los Angeles.
