Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula is receiving praise from The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College for being one of the 29 U.S. Catholic institutions to demonstrate an “impressive intellectual rigor that is matched by a commitment to orthodox Catholicism.”

The 2016-2017 edition of the guide notes that Thomas Aquinas was “the first in a wave of new Catholic colleges born from the crisis of Catholic identity in American Catholic higher education,” adding that it “still has the distinction of being the only Catholic college in America that teaches exclusively from these classic works of Western civilization.”

The guide examines Catholic colleges and universities across the U.S., for the purpose of “highlighting the unique qualities that distinguish these institutions from each other,” says Jon Daly, the school’s director of admissions. The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College can be viewed for free at thenewmanguide.com.
