Loyola High School in Los Angeles is celebrating the ordination of two of their alumni after both men entered the priesthood within a week of each other. School officials say they are “thankful for this extraordinary blessing to our community.”

On June 3, Robert Waldeck McGowan, 35, was ordained by Archbishop José H. Gomez at Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral in Los Angeles. Father Waldeck told Angelus News that he hoped “to be an instrument of God’s infinite love, compassion and divine mercy through celebrating the sacraments, especially celebrating the Mass and the sacrament of reconciliation.”

On June 10, Christopher A. Calderón, 33, was ordained by Auxiliary Bishop David G. O’Connell at Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood. It was at Loyola that he first encountered the Jesuits, the order he ended up joining. One of his first Masses was held in thanksgiving for his vocation at Loyola High School.
